| Description | This spring CWU will celebrate Earth Day from April 19-24 through a series of movies, lectures, service, and educational opportunities for students and community members.
This activity is for students interested in PLANNING AN EVENT. From April 19-24 we anticipate having informative speakers debating environmental issues, providing the opportunity for students and community members to plant personal vegetable gardens, showcasing local renewable energy projects, and more! There is still a need for other events such as eco-friendly technology demonstrations, renewable resource construction ideas, youth educational programs, or other environmentally themed events. Whether its demonstrating the financial benefits of materials reuse and renewable energy use, using water samples to effectively repair a watershed, or encouraging people to exercise outdoors to be healthy and learn about nature, all students can apply their education to create a better natural environment. Many passionate individuals and groups are needed to make this educational week successful. There are three ways to get involved in the planning of this program: as an individual you can sign up to support the existing events as needed, as an individual you can sign up to be placed with a few other students to plan a new event, as a group students can sign up to plan a new event. The time commitment varies between events but will be approximately 1-2 hours per week, with more time needed as the program approaches. If you are interested in being involved in the planning process, sign up for this activity. After signing up, you will receive an email with information on how to set up a meeting with one of the program coordinators to discuss your involvement in the Environmental Awareness Week. Happy Earth Day! |
