Description: Students choose an agency and/or a project, and make plans to contribute a minimum of 12 hours as a volunteer. Projects should be "community health" or "public health" related, but it is understood that these can encompass a broad range of activities. Students are required to submit goals, objectives, and ways they will measure progress toward their goals. A variety of writing assignments along the way and a final report document activities and course-related learning.

Service Outcomes

students will:

make connections between theory and practice;
strengthen their ideas of their philosophical "fit" within the profession;
begin considering questions about root causes in population health;
develop and monitor progress toward a profession-relevant goal
